A message from Flick on EPR 2011!
Hey All,
The site is almost cleared up and hardly any ruts left in the roads. The horses
are getting antsy to get into the pastures for some fresh grass and a change of
scenery. If you stand in one place for a minute or two and close your eyes, you
can still hear the rendezvous going on. Especially the "Jitney" ( 5 o'clock
Charlie ). Even tho we had a time with the weather, and finding new ways to live
with mud, we still knew how to laugh and keep our spirits in contact with
others. The good folks we had are the best at what they do and they all shined.
There are a few of you out there that kept me from the dark side. Thanks to your
smiles and attitudes, guided my ways of thinking and my listening abilities. It
meant a lot to me to be able to look in any direction and see exactly why I do
what I do. Thank you all for one of the best times I ever had !!
Lou, it's not over yet
Love you all,
Flick

A few words on the eastern 2011, from Hoot
Gibson!
Waaugh!!! ( or mayhaps AAArgh!!)
There sure was shinin’ times down to the
Eastern Primitive Rendezvous!
There was a passel of rain and mud but,
shucks,... can't do nothin' about the weather as any durned fool knows.
In betwixt the spells of rain, we were
rewarded with some fine sunrises and sunsets. It was almost as if the
hand of the Almighty hisself had painted the sky.
I swear,... an' it's me that says so,
there was more'n a plenty of work to go around. From top down and side
to side, Flick, J.D., Randy, Roger and the finest crew of folks this
child has seen took hold of this fiercesome task and made a Rendezvous
in spite of Mother Nature herself.
I seen more'n a few mules that had to be
drug to solid ground, and I heard tell of one or two folks who had a
grumble or two, but they were mightily out numbered by all them what are
truly touched with the spirit of Rendezvous.
I might git hoss whipped for sayin' this,
but I swear that a whiney mountain man is as pitiful a sight as was
ever seen on this earth. But enuff said about that unpleasantness.
There will be tales to be told for years
about this here Rendezvous and this ol' coon is pleased as punch to have
been there. If I could do it all again, I would not hesitate a
heartbeat.
Well, I best stop my yammerin' and see
about getting ready for the next 'Vous.
Thank ye all for a fine and shinin'
time!!! Keep yer powder dry, if'n ye can!
Hoot

Here's some comments from our folks on Facebook:
Eric B.
"Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful time. Despite
the weather I can get back into vous'ing (I've been for 20 years now)
because you all made the camp stil enjoyable for my wife and two young
daughters who had never been before. Now we own a marquee and the camp
kitchen is being made and our 8 year old wants to do this over her
birthday next year! Thank you so very much for all you did and making
the best with what you had to deal with. See you all sooner than later!"
"Chris W.
As said by many others, Gerry and I would like to extend
our thanks to the entire EPR staff. You guys/gals worked your butts off
for all of us.....non stop.....and for this we are so very grateful. We
can only hope mother nature will be kinder in 2013 because it truly is a
BEAUTIFUL site."
Lisa H.
"Many thanks to the SUPER STAFF who went above and beyond
to get services and build roads and get people in and out of camp.
Mother Nature has inpacted every event we have been to this year be it
heat or rain. But I would still rather play in the 18th century than
stay at home. Flick, JD, and crew are my new heroes."
Travis C.
"Thanks again to Flick, all the staff, the equipment
operaters, and all who helped in keeping moral up!!! My father and I had
a great time! We're home now drying canvas & burlap! Looking forward to
SEPR!"
Harvard B.
"To all the staff, thanks for all the hard work keeping
everything going. I know you guys put in some long days. Even with the
rain and mud we enjoyed our first Eastern. The tours and feast were
great!"
Chantal S.
"I think it's official, Mother Nature is a horrible
woman! BUT the real force to be reckoned with is the EPR staff and
everyone who pitched in to keep everyone at camp afloat! We all owe you
more gratitude than words can express. You guys put up with a lot this
past week and you were still smiling when we said good bye! You're all
awesome!!!"
Rita S.
"The rain was unreal!! As soon as we thought it was over
and things were firming up, it would come again!! Honestly I got pretty
tired of having wet dirty feet!! Words cannot express how impressed I
was with some of the people that worked relentlessly, many of whom
weren't even "officially" on staff. Most rendezvouers are fantastic
people."
Barbara B.
"Back from a great EPR despite the rain, rain, rain, mud,
and more rain. Tom Muschilic's (sp) cups he had for sale had 4" of rain
in them! Our tent floor was a muddy swamp and underneath was ugly - wish
I had had the camera out for that one. BUT, I still had a FANTASTIC time
and want to thank the Entire Staff for their continuous hard work. They
never stopped working to make the site as accessi...ble
as possible. I don't think they really had a chance to stop and enjoy
the rendezvous :-( They ALL should get a big heartful THANK YOU from
each and every one of us. I would also like to thank Harrell
Construction for also working non-stop delivering sand for the roads,
grading the roads, pulling us all out of the parking lot (which was
really a muddy mess - sink up to your knees mud). They all did a great
job despite the conditions and the few individuals who didn't seem to
appreciate them. They always had a smile on their faces and seemed to
enjoy it anyway. THANKS AGAIN and see you all soon."
Luanne B.
"Home from the EPR - Flick and staff went above and
beyond to help us all deal with the mud-rain-winds-hail that became the
talisman of this event! Hats off to a staff that worked and worked and
worked some more - you guys are awesome!!!"
